Residency, Visas and Work Permits
Renewable residencies can be applied for if the buyer has the intention of purchasing for a permanent move. A residency visa is required for anyone intending to live or work in Abu-Dhabi. For certain nationalities a visa may be issued upon arrival and passports are required with a minimum of three months validity from the date of entry. It is advisable to check for any recent changes with an embassy prior to departure, as some visitors are required to provide details of sponsors for the duration of the stay.

Getting There
The Abu-Dhabi International Airport is a modern facility and the second largest airport in the UAE. Flights connect to the airport from various cities throughout the world with airlines including British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines. Flight time to Abu-Dhabi from the UK is approximately 7 hours and approximately 15 hours from Sydney, Australia.

Local Transport
Public transport is reasonably priced, with taxi's being extremely popular. Most locals use private cars, however public bus transportation is available. There are various car hire companies in Abu Dhabi and both men and women are permitted to drive. If entering the country intending to obtain a residential visa, it may be necessary to also obtain a UAE driving license.
Health and Safety
Abu-Dhabi is a very safe place to live and visit, although normal precautions should be taken to avoid becoming a potential target for petty criminals. Carrying your passport for identification is advisable, along with emergency numbers should they be needed. Purchasing bottled drinking water is recommended, however many locals do drink the tap water.
